About Alison

I help ADHD adults tap into their unique strengths to start meeting their truest potential.

I believe a therapist is both a teacher and a student. The key to effective ADHD treatment is for us both to learn the unique ways ADHD impacts you so that we can find the most personalized and effective tools for growth.

However, I know finding a specialist who you connect with and who actually understands ADHD is not easy. So before I list all my credentials, here’s a little bit about who I am so you can decide if we’ll work well together.

In my down time, you’ll usually find me curled up with a good book or….binge watching reality TV. I know everything you never needed to know about popular fandoms (e.g. Harry Potter, Marvel, GOT, etc.). In addition, I love getting active by running, walking my dogs, or doing yoga. I love traveling and have taught classes abroad. At heart, I’m someone who loves to learn, whether it be about mindfulness techniques, neurobiology, or Regency Era England (thanks to a certain Netflix show).

Why I’m Passionate about working with ADHD

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been interested in people–the things that we all have in common combined with our amazing individuality. This led me to studying sociology and anthropology at Denison University and then getting my master’s degree in social work at The Ohio State University. There, my passion shifted from learning about people to learning how to empower them.

I’ve found over the years that ADHD folks are incredibly hard on themselves. As a recovering perfectionist myself, I too know how it feels to have high standards and goals for yourself, but to feel like you’re stuck figuring out the first step. I’ve learned all the helpful “life hacks” to set boundaries, find self-compassion, develop routines, and quiet racing thoughts. In our work together, we will help you learn to quiet the noise so that you can harness the power of your ADHD brain to become your greatest asset.
